My field of research is 360° video coding. Unlike conventional video, 360° video natively resides on the surface of a sphere. While conventional video is typically viewed on a display, 360° video is typically viewed with a head mounted display or a smartphone. Both of these allow a feedback of direction the user is looking to: Not the complete scene is displayed at once, but only a viewport. Consequentially 360° feels quite immersive...
