Participation in the MetaCom 2025 conference in Seoul


Best Paper Award

From August 27 to 29, 2025, the 3rd Annual IEEE International Conference on Metaverse Computing, Networking, and Applications (MetaCom 2025) took place in Seoul, Korea. Our institute was represented with two contributions presented by Abhinav Bhattacharya and Jakob Hartbrich. One of the contributions was awarded the conference's Best Paper Award.

The first paper, entitled "Impact of Texture Resolution, Polygon Count, Quality Level, and Viewing Distance on Volumetric Avatar Visual Quality" by William Menz, Jakob Hartbrich, Abhinav Bhattacharya, Rakesh Rao Ramachandra Rao, Steve Göring, and Alexander Raake, examined the visual quality of volumetric avatars under various technical parameters. This paper was awarded the conference's Best Paper Award.

The second contribution, "Influence of 4th-Order Ambisonics Audio on the Perceived Quality and Exploration Behavior of 360° Videos" by William Menz, Abhinav Bhattacharya, Thomas Robotham, Felix Immohr, Rakesh Rao Ramachandra Rao, Steve Göring, Emanuel Habets, and Alexander Raake, was produced in collaboration with International Audio Laboratories Erlangen and examined the influence of highly immersive audio playback on user perception and exploration behavior in 360° video environments.
