Research Topic

My research focuses on the evaluation of user behavior and ecological validity in immersive audiovisual environments. I am interested in understanding how people perceive, explore, and interact with virtual scenes in relation to real-world experiences, with the goal of improving the Quality of Experience (QoE) in extended and mixed reality systems.

Building on this, I aim to explore how audiovisual scene characteristics, including spatial audio and visual representations, shape users’ attention, perception, and engagement in virtual environments. It focuses on understanding behavior and experience in immersive media through studies of audiovisual saliency, cognitive engagement, and multimodal communication in XR. The aim of my PhD is to develop methods for assessing ecological validity by combining behavioral observations, physiological measures, and subjective evaluations within controlled VR experiments, helping to better connect virtual experiences with real-world perception.
